well... what did people expect...lol. The Catholics of the North, looked at the US and the Civil Rights movement going on over here at the time. They liked the pacifist attitude, and saw that it was working for the movement here. Thus they asked the mayor and gardai if they could have a protest like the ones that were going on over in the states, the mayor/gardai said sure go ahead. The mayor/gardai also promised that as long as nothing turned violent then they would not use force back to calm things down....lo and behold it has been said the british pm at the time- ms.thatcher- was repsonsible for the british paratroopers who came down and started shooting everyone...for no reason of course, and didnt care if they had promised the Catholic protesters no use of force if it their protest was peaceful...and since the bbc owned the news etc... of the north and the uk and controlled the majority of the region for news...rte vs. bbc....yah bbc will take precedence...especially at that time...so naturally everything from so called witnesses to the actual gardai/gov. inquiry were plants....and another thing, most people assume that bloody sunday was religious based...not so...the people of the North were in dire need of housing, and the government promised and did make more housing available, except it was only available to the Protestant population....and there were other civil right issues as well that were the reasons behind the Northern Catholics staged a protest.
